Pam Anderson

What I do for a living: Psychiatric Nurse-currently working as a Seniors Mental Health Worker at Portage Hospital and also have a contract with the RHA to provide Mental Health Crisis Service during the afterhours.  LOVE MY JOBS!!!

Born: June 3, 1970 (yep almost 40!) in Killarney, MB

Family: Married to “The Waterboy” AKA David Anderson and Proud Mamma to Alexa (9) and Kara (7)

How I became a Christian: I remember being about 6 or 7 and going to Vacation Bible School while staying with my Gramma and Grampa in the summer.  One of the teachers talked about asking “Jesus to come into our hearts.”  I left that day and found the teacher at the home where she was staying and asked if I could do that with her.

Giftedness: Love my role as MOM and so am pretty sure that is one gift that God has given me.    I would also like to think that other gifts that God has given me are listening to and loving others.

Music: Really anything…but love music that causes me to break into some dance moves. Love Nicole C. Mullen, Amanda Falk, David Crowder, Jeremy Camp, Steven Curtis Chapman(love the new CD about grieving-Thanks Kathy), Matthew West, Tom Petty and my all time favorite is Jon Bon Jovi-Yep we are going to see him this July.

TV Show: Survivor, Brothers and Sisters, Dragon’s Den, Kitchen Nightmares and dare I respond with “Bachelor?” (really it is for the study of human behavior)

Place: Learning that it is “Right where I am”

Book of the Bible: Luke

Song: “Waiting” and “Blessing” by John Waller – such a clear picture for me of how I need to live. Also, “Save a Place for Me” by Matthew West – provides a place of comfort for me after losing my nephew, Julian.

Movie: Pretty Woman, Patch Adams, Up (Carl & Elly-Dave & I)-Love those movies where I can learn something about me and how I can live my life better…so basically any of the kids movies out there.

Food: Almost Anything, but Pizza, Pasta, Chocolate are my favourites

Cartoon Character: Elmer Fudd…ask Dave

Verse: Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Most challenging book I’ve read lately: Well I usually have a few on the go so 1. Financial Peace University’s book by Dave Ramsey 2. An Untroubled Heart: Finding a Faith That is Stronger Than All My Fear by Micca Campbell (thanks Yanara) 3. Boundaries with Kids by Henry Cloud and John Townsend.

The personal project I’m working on: Living an authentic, genuine life.  One that pleases God but may not please all of those around me.  Being true to who God created me to be.  Being extra careful with where my time and energy goes, often asking myself “is this good for me, would God want me to do this”  (so yep that means I’m working on giving up the Bachelor)

My first job: Besides growing up on the farm and throwing hay/straw bales? Working at McDonald’s in Brandon.

Most Prized Possession: Since my family are not my “possession” I can’t say them, but my horse,  AJ is a prized possession!

Few people know that I: Grew up riding and showing horses (Equestrian) and that I have shown at Spruce Meadows in Calgary, AB three times.

Best way to make me laugh: Be goofy!  Dance for me!

My most annoying habit:Yah, don’t have any! .just kidding. I’ve  heard it is apologizing, taking an inferior stance with others and yep apologizing!

Words I overuse: “Sorry” and my new one which has rubbed off from Alexa is “Come On”

The best gift I’ve ever received: No question – that is my family, Dave and my girls!!  Blows my mind that God thinks I deserve such a precious gift.

The best gift I’ve ever given: My forgiveness to someone who has hurt me through childhood sexual abuse.

I would love to meet: Jon Bon Jovi.  Would also love to meet Steven Curtis Chapman – give him and big hug and thank him for his music and then introduce him to my brother and have them talk about losing a child together.

I would love to live: Learning that is “right where I am”

If I could live my life over, I’d: Giggle and dance way more!!

I’d describe my faith as: Always growing!  Always stretching! Never standing still!

I can’t wait to ask Jesus face to face: Why do you love me so much?  Why do I matter to you?

I’d appreciate prayer for: To believe in myself the way God believes in me!  My family!

Are you involved in ministry? House church leader, Kids Church-Music (My girls and I have the priveledge to shake our stuff and act goofy in this ministry)

What do you enjoy most about it? Love feeling like I play a role with the sweet, innocent children that God created!  Also think it is cool for them to see worship happening in a way that is non-judgemental, not self critical, just plain ol’ singing and dancing for our great God!!

How has serving in ministry added to your spiritual growth? Feels like a place to belong!
